I never expect any gifts 🎁from clients, but when I receive them I really do feel appreciated. If you're my client, you know that when I arrive each morning, I will check in to see how all members of the family are doing (including the pets). Well yesterday I put that into motion when I drove by a man and woman involved in a physical altercation in White Plains yesterday. I immediately pulled over and called 911. I gave the operator a description of the location, what they were wearing and the car the man eventually drove off in. I pray that woman is OK

7 years ago, I held a dance 💃 party, not really in honor of my 🎂 birthday, It was held because I had just come through a very difficult 🥵 year of my life during which I COULD NOT DANCE as a result of the 4 surgeries I had to repair my left ankle 🦶. I hired food trucks and a DJ🎧 and I danced the night away on the shores of the Hudson River under the 🌟 stars. Becoming a #postpartumdoula has been one of the best decisions I have made to make a positive change in my work life. I share this as a reminder of the need to take the time to 🍾 celebrate ourselves and the life we live. I INTEND TO MAKE IT COUNT. More #mealprep at home! I GIFTED myself some downtime for the month of June by NOT pursuing to fill my calendar with my usual 2 clients a day. This allows me time to work out, cook healthy food, and binge watch Modern Family episodes with my daughter. The first half of 2024 has been a whirlwind of supporting clients and gearing up to celebrate both of my kids' graduations while one left college and moved back home then the other will leave for college in the Fall. This is how a #postpartumdoula does #mealprep at home. I'm too busy supporting my clients each day to have time to cook dinner for my own family each night. So what's a doula to do? I cook enough dinner to feed a small army each weekend, and we just portion it out during the week. In addition to this massive amount of roasted asparagus and sausage with onions, peppers, and mushrooms, I also made garlic and onion shrimp as well as a traditional Jamaican dish called "ackee"! "HOW TO DONATE MILK. ♡Find Your Closest Milk Bank The closest milk bank to Westchester County is @nymilkbank in Valhalla. Contact them to discuss your specific situation, and to ensure that they are able to accept your milk. ♡Some Info About You The milk bank will send you a questionnaire and blood test kit. You can make an appointment with your local GP or nurse to take the bloods, and the kit is then sent back to the milk bank. Your blood will be tested for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis, and HTLV. ♡Start Collecting! The milk bank will send you bottles to store and freeze your milk. If you already have a stock of milk in breastmilk bags, your milk bank may accept this, although the fat in the milk is not released from breastmilk bags as well as it is from milk bank bottles. I don't need any thank yous from my children on Mother's Day. It's been the hardest job I've ever loved and I would do it all again. Whatever it has taken to raise them up, has taught me the lessons I needed to learn in this lifetime and for that I am forever grateful. They are both young adults now and I am beginning to take a step back from 24/7 parenting so that they can thrive independently. I ❤️ NEW YAWK! 🗽🍎🗽🍎 New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a bill into law Monday that creates a statewide doula directory aimed at helping new mothers and their newborn children. The new law aims to reduce barriers in finding doulas, who provide physical, emotional and informational support before, during, and after childbirth. The state Department of Health will establish and maintain the directory on its website. Doula services will also be covered for all Medicaid enrollees starting on Jan. 1 “Our maternal and infant mortality rates are a disgrace,” Hochul said. “Expanding access to doula services is an effective, evidence-based strategy to support expectant parents and allow their babies to grow and thrive.
